Hello Fellow Members, I have a question that I have asked several folks and gotten different answers. I suppose I will eventually go to my local gun store or GPI and ask but if you know the answer I would appreciate your input. I have had my CWFL for several years now and have bought and sold many firearms. Some I have bought, like the Desert Eagle 50 cal. and within 6 months sold it. Some folks ask, Why would you want something like that ? My answer is, why not, because I would just like to have one. I currently am shooting a AR-10 style, Springfield SOCOM 16 in .308 cal. I really enjoy shooting the rifle and will probably keep that one. I am toying with the thought of getting a Legal Full Auto rifle and have been told that it is fairly simple. I have been told that a background check is needed along with paying a TAX STAMP of I believe $200. Does anybody know the facts, steps, to take? It is my understanding that these type of firearms need to be purchased from a FFL Dealer that sells Class 3 firearms. Any help would be appreciated. Again, why would I want a firearm like this, my reply is, why not, thats it. Thanks, maybe see you all at next meeting on the 21st. of Nov. Wolfcreek

Hi there,

Had a couple of questions regarding the interpretation of the Florida Statutes regarding knives and was wondering if someone might be able to help me clarify a few things.

A little while back, my wife bought me a Benchmade Auto Presidio as a gift (here's a link http://www.benchmade.com/products/5000 ). It's an automatic opener with a 3.42" blade. I'd love to carry it as my EDC pocket knife because it is beautifully well made and very convenient, but am a little confused as to the legality of doing so. I've asked a couple of knife vendors in the area who informed me that the statutes were changed by Jeb Bush in 2003, redefining the law so that what is actually illegal to carry is a ballistic self-propelled knife which actually fires a projectile and that automatic openers are perfectly legal to own, carry, etc... without a permit. I've done a little bit of homework and this appears to be the case but it seems to depend on what constitutes an "ordinary pocket knife". However, knife vendors are in the business of selling knives, so I imagine I would have to take their word with a tiny grain of salt.

Does anyone know if these interpretations are correct?

Also, while on the subject of knives, I keep a basic survival kit in my truck with some "just in case" survival items (first aid, flashlight, fire staring materials and so) and would like to add a basic woodcraft blade to it, but again am uncertain of the legality of keeping such an item in my vehicle.

Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

I recently purchased a Mossberg 590 and wanted to try it out. Can we fire a 12 ga at the range? I know this exceeds the range's .45 caliber limit, but my understanding is that shotguns don't have the range of a bullet.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm new to shooting and the FOP.

Thanks so much for any guidance.
